NATO announced today that two more F-15s are being
assigned to the Šiauliai base in an effort to reassure the Baltic states that
they are adequately defended. According
to msn.com, “The jets are on call to respond to any violations of Baltic
airspace. Lithuania said last week the
number of Russian jets flying close enough to Baltic airspace this year to
prompt NATO jets being scrambled has increased to around one a week.” There are now 12 F-15s stationed at the base across town.
I'll ask the obvious. Do you feel like you're on the front in the Cold War?
